Lot Description

George IV provincial silver cream jug, of bulbous form with gadrooning to rim and engraved monogram to one side, having a flat top loop handle with moulded edge and raised above an oblong footed base.  Hallmarked James Barber & William Whitwell, York circa 1822.  Maximum height including handle measures 3 1/2 inches (9 cm), weight 4.59 ozt (143 grams).

Total lot weight: No

Cream jug is quite tarnished all over and displays general wear, surface marks and scratches and various nicks.  There are also a number of surface dints visible to the main body and especially to one side.  The metal feels a little thinner in this area and there is a small section of particular damage.  Some small knocks to the foot rim.  Hallmarks are slightly rubbed/distorted but still legible.
