Lot Description

A selection of early twentieth century silver dressing table items, to include a hand mirror and brush with scrolling foliate silver mounts, a similarly designed silver backed brush, a silver cigarette case and a silver mounted glass bottle. Mirror and brush hallmarked George Unite & Sons, Birmingham 1904, with original boxes. (5)

The lot is in good overall condition with scratches and small dents in keeping with general wear. The hand mirror and matching brush have original retailers boxes and cardboard box covers and reciept for re-bristling in 1985, for Kent of London. Length of 10 inches (25.4cm). The smaller brush with floral silver mount is hallmarked W J Myatt & Co, Birmingham 1916. Length 6 1/4 inches (15.8cm). The cigarette case has small dents and slight wear to the gilt interior finish. The case is engraved FA, reputedly for Fred Appleton, Landlord of the Bear & Key Hotel, 1919-1949 at Whitstable. Hallmarked Stokes & Ireland Ltd, London 1899. Length 3 1/2 inches (8.2cm). Weight of cigarette case 3.42 ozt (106.4 grams). The glass bottle has large chips and abrasion. Length 4 3/4 inches (12cm). The hallmarks are worn to the silver mount.
