Lot Description

Late Victorian silver cream jug, the bulbous body with gadrooned lower part below a continuous embossed band of scrolling foliage with central vacant cartouche, with plain neck leading to a scroll handle.  Hallmarked William Devenport, Birmingham 1895.  Maximum height measures 2 3/4 inches (7 cm), weight 1.2 ozt (38.8 grams).

Cream jug displays general wear, tarnishing and surface marks and scratches commensurate with the age and use.  There are some minor surface nicks and dints and also a couple of creases in the metal around the neck and lip rim.  Maker's mark slightly distorted but still legible, hallmarks clear and legible.
