Lot Description

A George V silver cheroot case with personal engraving relating to S.S. Othello, the hinged lid opening to reveal a mounted reconstituted amber holder, hallmarked William Manton Birmingham 1910. Together with a George V silver card case of plain form, hallmarked Henry Clifford Davis Birmingham 1910 and a continental lipstick holder with scroll and floral engraved decoration, stamped 800. Gross weighable silver 3.5 ozt (107.2 grams).

The cheroot case and holder are in good overall condition with general scratches, marks and wear. The personal engraving is very clear, the hallmarks are in a similar condition with the maker mark being slightly rubbed. The holder has a small chip to the mouth piece. The card case has a few dents and some tarnishing, hallmarks are visible but rubbed, particularly one of the date letters, the hinge is also quite loose not holding firmly closed. The lipstick holder is in fair condition, the sliding thumb piece is quite stiff and some of the engraved decoration is rubbed and tarnished, the mirror appears discoloured and displays an internal crack.
