Lot Description

A selection of three late Victorian cased silver condiments, to include a pair of stylised floral open salts, a pair of shell-shape open salts with matching silver spoons, and a pair of cylindrical pepperettes. Hallmarked Mappin Brothers, Sheffield 1895, S.B, Birmingham 1899 and Horace Woodward & Co Ltd, London, 1895. Total silver weight 2.80 ozt (87 grams).

The lot is in fair to good overall condition with scratches and small dents in keeping with general wear. The Mappin Brothers salts retain mots of their inner gilt finish. The silver plated spoons are replacements and the case is not original. The shell design spoons are slightly bent. Case possibly not original. The pepperettes are more noticeably dented, the hallmarks are extremely worn. Height 1 9/16 inches (3.9cm). The boxes are in generally good condition with minor wear.
