Lot Description

A Victorian silver key wind open face pocket watch signed Ellis, Exeter, the white enamel dial having black Roman numeral hour markers, subsidiary seconds dial to six o'clock, all surrounded by an outer minute track, the heavily rubbed case, hallmarked London circa 1872, maker's mark JO, with milled middle, engine turned design with vacant cartouche to rear, fitted with a signed gilt full plate fusee and chain movement having a ratchet tooth lever escapement and undersprung hairspring. Case diameter 46mm.

Open faced pocket watch, key wind manual movement is currently functioning, dial shows cracks around the 'V' numeral and between the 'VIII' and 'IX' numerals, dial also shows some small marks, hands have marks, glass shows marks, case has marks and scratches as a result of general use, case band and back shows noticeable wear to the decoration, hinges have wear to the corners, bow shows signs of wear.
