Lot Description

A late 19th century tortoiseshell purse, of cartouche-shape outline, the front inlaid with mother-of-pearl chip scrolls and monogrammed panel with pique surround. Length 7.5cms.

The lot is in fair overall condition with light scratches and small dents in keeping with general wear. The inside of the purse is stamped brevete and another word which is only partially struck. The red fabric is faded and torn in places. The back of the purse has a section of damaged tortoiseshell which is discoloured and has numerous fine cracks. There is wear to the gilt finish.
