Lot Description

A late 19th century gold coral, split pearl and ruby fly brooch. The circular coral cabochon body, with split pearl wings and circular ruby cabochon eyes, to the cultured pearl terminal pin. Length 5.2cms. Weight 4.8gms.

The lot is in good overall condition with scratches and small dents in keeping with general wear. Please see important notices for purchasers in the catalogue for Coloured Gemstones. The coral is a slightly orangey pink hue with growth zoning visible and minor, small polyp holes. The split and cultured pearls are well matched with a slightly yellow creamy colour. The rubies are well matched with slight differences in depth of colour. Unhallmarked. Length of fly 2cms.
