Lot Description

A late Victorian silver box, the rectangular box on ridged bun feet, with scrolling foliate embossed sides and crimped rims, to the hinged lid with grotesque masks, floral scrolls and coins inset. Hallmarked Rosenthal, Jacob & Co, London 1888. Length 7 3/8 inches (18.7cm). Weight 7.21 ozt (244.2 grams).

The box has small dents and scratches in keeping with general wear. The lid has come away from the hinges, one side with a temporary pin, the other side has been torn off neatly around the hinge. There are small holes of wear. Dents to the rims and vacant cartouche. Hallmarks to base, slightly rubbed but clear and legible.
