Lot Description

Two 1920's silver cigarette cases, to include a bevelled square cigarette case, monogrammed to the corner, together with a curved rectangular engine turned cigarette case, vacant cartouche. Hallmarked Birmingham 1927, with the maker's mark HHS and  A Nicholls & Son Birmingham 1928. Lengths 4 and 3 1/2 inches (10.2 and 8.9cm). Weight 9.02 ozt (280.5 grams).

The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The square case has surface scratches and very minor black spotting, monogrammed JG, very slight discolouration to the gilt interior. The curved rectangular case has more noticeable dents, the sides are slightly ajar, the piece does not quite close securely. The gilt finish is discoloured and has been scoured. The hallmarks are clear and legible.
