Lot 622

Lot Description

An early twentieth century silver cigar case of rectangular form, personal inscription, the outer case entirely engraved with scrolling floral motifs and opens to reveal a silver-gilt four divide compartmentalised interior. Hallmarked Joseph Gloster Ltd Birmingham 1910. Height measuring 5 inches (13 cm), weight 5.2 ozt (162 grams).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

The case displays general surface scratches, marks and wear commensurate with the age and use.  Heavy tarnishing is visible and it would benefit from a clean and polish.  There is a little bit more wear around the edges, however the engraved decoration still appears quite bright.  There is a surface dint visible to the reverse of the case, which is also visible to the interior.  Hinges and clasp are in working order, although there is a gap at both sides when the lid is closed.  Spots of tarnishing to the interior and other dirty marks.  The hallmarks are clear and legible.
