Lot Description

A late nineteenth century Dutch silver box of shape form, basket edge and embossed figurative and rural scenes to the base and lid. Dutch hallmarks 1881, Lion passant for .833 and Minerva head. Maximum width measuring 2 3/4 inches (7 cm), weight 3 ozt (95 grams).

Total lot weight: No

The box displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.  There is some rubbing and slight loss of detail to the decoration in places, to the embossed base and lid and also a couple of areas of the basket weave.  Hinged cover is in working order although the lid does not shut properly, especially on one side.  Various minor nicks in the metal.  Some of the hallmarks appear a little rubbed but legible.
