Lot 637

Lot Description

A late nineteenth century French cased glass scent bottle of cylindrical ‘test tube’ form, intricately decorated with trailing flowers, the case with a label signed 'TAHAN A PARIS'. Height measuring 10 cm.

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

The scent bottle displays general surface scratches, marks and wear commensurate with the age and use.  There is a little tarnishing and some loss of detail to the metal mounts around the base of the lid and the top of the main bottle. The hinged lid is in working order but the clasp is no longer working properly so that it cannot shut tightly.  There is a cloudy appearance in the glass at the base of the bottle and there is some yellowish discolouration/tarnishing to the trailing flower decoration in some places.  Minor nicks to glass stopper.  Some deterioration to case and the label on the underside is now very worn.
