Lot Description

Late Victorian silver vesta case in the form of a heart, decorated to both sides with scrolling foliage and with a personalised rectangular panel to the front.  Hallmarked Birmingham 1898, maker's mark J.G.  Maximum height measures 4 cm, weight 21 grams.

The vesta is quite tarnished all over and displays general wear and surface marks and scratches commensurate with the age and use.  Some minor surface nicks and dints visible, especially around the edges.  Some slight loss of detail to the decoration in places.  Hinged  lid and clasp are in good working order, although there is a very slight gap when it is closed.  Contact marks to flange.  Hallmarks are clear and legible.
