Lot Description

A late 19th century 18ct gold shell cameo brooch. Of oval outline, the shell cameo cameo carved to depict an Elizabethan lady, within a rope-twist and raised detail surround. Length 4.9cms. Weight 26.9gms.

Overall condition good. There are scratches and areas of discolouration to the outer surround in keeping with overall wear. The cameo is significantly worn to the detail, the head and face have specifically worn areas. The collet to the cameo is damaged to the one side. There is a hairline fracture to the one side. There are a couple of dents to the outer surround. The back pin and catch is secure. There are areas of discolouration to the outer detail.
