A late 19th century garnet brooch, of openwork design, the square-shape foil back garnet circle, within a similarly-set garnet surround. Length 3cms.

Overall condition fair. There are scratches and areas of discolouration to the back of the brooch, there are significant scratches to the back. The back pin and catch has been replaced. The garnets vary in shade, some more brown and others more purple, there are inclusions easily visible to some, some of the foil backing has deteriorated and the settings may need to be secured.
