Lot Description

An early 19th century gold and agate cat seal. The agate panel, carved to depict a woman and crowned man facing each other in profile, to the scalloped mount and carved sitting cat pedestal with diamond point accent. Length 5cms.

The lot is in good overall condition with scratches and small dents in keeping with general wear. There are some natural flaws to the agate seal, the seal has moderate abrasion, scratches. The seal mount has wear with small tears and losses to the edge. The cat rotates slightly on the pedestal, slightly loose with associated wear. The cat has minor abrasion and small cavities to a natural flaw. The diamond is mounted in a heavily tarnished white metal, possible small repair. The surmount loop is worn through. Estimated diamond weight 0.005ct. The diamond is too small to accurately assess colour/clarity grades.
