Lot Description

A late 19th century 18ct gold gem-set brooch. The hardstone cameo, carved to depict a woman with shawl in profile, to the cultured pearl and vari-cut ruby surround. Length 4.6cms. Weight 23.4gms.

The lot is in good overall condition with scratches and small dents in keeping with general wear. The cameo and cultured pearl surround are later replacements. The cameo has minor nicks. The cultured pearls are well matched with typical surface blemishes. Please see important notices for purchasers in the catalogue for Coloured Gemstones. The rubies are a well matched deep red hue with moderate abrasion. one of the rubies is cracked across. The back has possible alterations.
