Lot Description

An early twentieth century compartmentalised silver case with sprung hinge and silver-gilt interior. Hallmarked Birmingham 1910, the maker possibly Clark & Sewell (James Clark & John Sewell). Length measuring 4 1//4 inches (11 cm), weight 1.5 ozt (49 grams).

The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Sprung hinge in good working order. The lip does not quite sit flush. A couple of minor dints visible. The hallmarks are clear and legible, maker's mark partly distorted. Also marked PATENT APPLIED FOR.
