Lot Description

Victorian silver mounted scent bottle of rectangular form, entirely decorated in high relief with floral scrolls, engraved initials to the base and the hinged lid opening to reveal a glass stopper. Hallmarked William Neale Chester 1889. Height measuring 5.5 cm.

The scent bottle displays general scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing. The lid does not hold close and rises. The glass stopper is chipped. ‘Cement’ filler has been applied to the inner rim, possibly to mend/repair previous fault, broken glass liner visible to the interior. Seam visible to the back of the scent bottle. The hallmarks are clear and legible.
