Lot Description

An early 19th century oak and mahogany-cased 30-hour painted dial longcase clock.
Alfred Allgood, Ledbury, circa 1820, having a 12-inch square Roman dial painted with a tulip in a Delft vase, over calendar crescent and inscribed maker's name, within floral spandrels, the knopped four-pillar movement countwheel-striking on a bell, the case having a truncated hood with fluted columns over crossbanded long door and lozenge-inlaid planked base with plinth, 76.5", (194cm) high, sold with weight and pendulum.

Dial - discoloured and crazed. Stained between 12 and 1. Later hands. Some fading to blacking.
Movement - has been dipped and cleaned, possibly associated.
Case - hood has probably had a swan-neck pediment, now missing. One piece of veneer loose to left side of hood. Patch to lower left side of trunk. Old plinth but could be associated - may have had bracket feet. Good colour and patination.
