Lot Description

A pair of Victorian silver open salts with beaded rims, the bodies embossed with flowers, vacant cartouche and raised above shell mounted hoof feet. Hallmarked London 1858 and the maker's mark J.P. Gross combined weight 5.1 ozt (159 grams).

Postage: Auction Default

Total lot weight: No

Both salts display general wear commensurate with their age, some areas of tarnishing and general surface marks and scratches. Some minor nicks and small surface dints visible to some areas, also some deeper scratches. Interiors were probably once gilded but this is now quite worn. Beaded rims and embossed decoration are generally okay with only slight loss of detail. Hallmarks to underside of both are legible.
