Lot Description

A George II silver lidded jug, of baluster form with rattan covered handle and flame finial hinged lid, raised on a footed rim. Hallmarked R? probably Richard Gosling, London, probably 1748. Length 5 1/2 inches (14 cm). Weight 6.45 ozt (200.7 grams).

The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Part of the rattan covering is deficient. Large, noticeable dents to the bulbous part of the jug. The hallmarks are very worn. The maker's mark is partially obscured by the initials engraved to the base "G.N". General black spotting.
