Lot Description

George III silver teapot of oval form, bright cut engravings, ivory handle and spout. Hallmarked Charles Aldridge & Henry Green London 1779. Height measuring 5 3/4 inches (14.5 cm), weight 15.3 ozt (477 grams).

The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Numerous minor dents and bumps. Damage and repairs to the flush hinge and surrounding area. Engraving removal to one cartouche, where the silver feels thin. The second cartouche has had an additional panel overlayed and engraved. Ivory handle loose and heavily cracked. Heavy discolouration to the interior. The hallmarks to the underside are clear and legible.
