Lot Description

An early George III silver sweetmeat basket, of lobed kite form with plain foot, the oval-shape dish, to the radial bar sides with applied scrolling grape and vine design, rope-twist rims and hinged handle, initials to underside of base. Hallmarked William Cripps, London 1762. Length 6 1/2 inches (16.5 cm). Weight 4.21 ozt (130.9 grams).

The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The solder has run to the inner underside foot rim, possible small repair. The hallmarks and maker's marks positioned only to the foot are worn. The bowl shows some minor pings and surface scratches. Scratch engraved initials to base, 'E.H'.
