Lot Description

William IV three piece silver tea service of squat melon form ornately florally embossed and chased, interspersed with leaf friezes, the teapot with an oversized floral finial. Hallmarked London 1830 and the maker's mark WH. Gross weight 52.2 ozt (1626 grams).

The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Minor dints and bumps visible. Likely engraving removed from cartouche on teapot and sugar. Hole has worn through on the embossing on the sugar bowl. Handle to the teapot loose with a loss of pins. Hinge to lid loose to the teapot. Possible previous gilding to interiors has worn. The hallmarks are overall legible, maker's marks worn to the sugar and cream also lion passant to the cream.
