Lot Description

George III silver caster of baluster form, the detachable cover with pierced and engraved decoration to the wrythen finial. Hallmarked  Jabez Daniell & James Mince, London 1766. Height measuring 4 3/4 inches (12 cm), weight 2 ozt (64 grams).

The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Further significant wear and repairs to the applied rim to the neck of the body and the embossed girdle, both with signs of repair and a split to the body. The cover has also been repaired. Minor dints and bumps. Heavy discolouration to the interior. The hallmarks a little obscured but clearly legible, maker and lion passant marked to cover.
