Lot 68

Lot Description

Late Victorian pair of small silver baluster vases, each with oblique lobed decoration to the main body, below a plain neck with flared moulded rim, all above a spreading circular foot.  Hallmarked Mappin Brothers (William Gibson & John Lawrence Langman), London 1892.  Height measures 4 1/8 inches (10.5 cm), combined weight 4.58 ozt (142.4 grams).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

Both vases display general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.  Deeper scratches are visible to some areas and various minor nicks.  There are some small surface dints and bumps, most notably to the foot rim and main rim on one of the vases.  This vase also appears very slightly shorter.  The hallmarks on one of the vases are clear and legible with some slight rubbing, on the other vase there is heavier rubbing and wear, mainly to maker's marks, although they are still legible.
