Lot Description

A second quarter 19th century inlaid tortoiseshell bombe tea caddy. The hinged pewter-strung cover of canted oblong form, the superstructure and front panel profusely decorated with floral sprays in engraved mother-of-pearl, enclosing two lidded divisions, the bombe body on a flared apron and bun feet, 7.5" x 4.5" x 6" high, (19cm x 11.5cm x 15cm).

Small flake loss to cover. Hinges loose - cover can be removed; minor crack to ivory where hinges slot in but just requires minor repair. Small strip of prewter inlay missing to one flower stem. Two small flake losses to edge of apron. strip running round edge of base is missing to all but one short side. Overall - structurally pretty good but a few small flaws.
