Lot 352

Lot Description

An American sterling silver three piece bachelor tea service comprising teapot, cream jug and twin handled sugar bowl, each of pedestal form with angular handles, beaded rim detail and decorated with embossed floral garlands above a lobed lower body, raised above a circular foot with square base. Impressed marks to the underside including maker/retailer Udall & Ballou (1888-1940s) and 'sterling', the teapot also marked '1 3/8 Pint'. Maximum teapot length measures 8 1/4 inches (21 cm), gross weight 16.9 ozt (526.4 grams).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

All three pieces display general surface scratches and nicks, marks, wear and some light tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.  Some general minor dints and bumps and some slightly larger ones to the teapot.  Likely repair to the lip of the cream jug as floods of solder visible and there is loss of detail to the beading in this area.  Rim of sugar bowl is slightly misshapen.  Impressed marks to the underside are all legible.
