Lot Description
A mid 19th century 9ct gold miniature portrait pendant. Of oval-shape outline, the miniature portrait, painted to depict a mid 19th century grey haired gentleman with reverse arranged hair panel, to the scroll border and later brooch surmount. Later brooch fitting with hallmarks for Birmingham, 1951. Length 7.6cms. Weight 31.2gms.

Condition Report
Overall condition good. There are scratches and areas of dark discolouration to the surround in keeping with the age of the piece. Personal inscription to reverse border reads 'Henry Youle died Feby 1 1855 aged 65'. The miniature portrait and arranged hair panel are in good condition. There are some filed areas to the reverse border. The top brooch fitting has been added at a later date. The link to the top fitting is metal and has been replaced. The back pin fitting to the later brooch is metal.
