A 19th century black lacquered papier mache desk blotter of rectangular form, the cover inset with an oval glazed panel hand painted with a view of 'Dumbarton Castle', the whole within a gilded transfer decorated border, 9" x 11.75" (23cm x 30cm). Together with a similar smaller desk blotter, the cover transfer decorated with a panel depicting a hound, within an abalone inset decorated border, 6" x 9" (15cm x 23cm).
