Lot Description

A pair of late nineteenth century figurative German novelty salt and pepper modelled in traditional Dutch dress. German assay mark 13 (.812), possible maker's mark for Ludwig Neresheimer alongside further continental marks. Height measuring 3 3/4 inches (9.5 cm), gross weight 5.6 ozt (174 grams).

The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The female opens at the head, this join is loose and the head is easily removed. Male opens at the feet. Some rubbing and loss of definition. Heavier tarnishing to the recesses. German hallmarks are worn, further continental marks are distorted.
