Lot Description

An early to mid-twentieth century Italian compact, the oblong body with engine turned decoration and ribbed edge and clasp, opening to reveal a compartmentalised interior with mirror. Italian assay marks for Firenze, the silversmith's number 72 and standard mark of 925. Length measuring 9.5 cm, gross weight inclusive of mirror and inserts 226 grams.

In good overall condition displaying general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. A hinged mount present below the mirror, perhaps missing a part or a receptacle for cards? Italian assay marks a little distorted but legible.
