Lot Description

Two late 19th century gold mourning brooches, to include a 15ct gold oval-shape onyx brooch with central split pearl star and rope-twist border and an onyx, split pearl and black enamel brooch. Lengths 4 and 2.3cms. Weight 14.3gms.

Overall condition good to fair. There are slight scratches to the 15ct gold brooch, there are some slight areas of damage to the split pearl nacre. The back pin and catch has been replaced. The hinge and catch has been replaced to the other brooch with significant lead solder and dents to the reverse panel. There are chips to the black enamel, the split pearls are fairly well matched, there is damage in places. The onyx is in good condition.
