Lot 23

Lot Description

A George IV silver wine funnel with detachable strainer, of typical form with engraved stag crest to both parts.  Hallmarked Rebecca Emes & Edward Barnard I, London 1820.  Maximum length measures 5 1/2 inches (14 cm), weight 4.29 ozt (133.5 grams).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

The funnel displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.  Some heavier scratches, marks and nicks are visible.  Also some surface dints and bumps, including some notable ones around the bulbous part of the funnel.  There are also some larger dents and knocks to the main rim and base rim of the strainer so that it is a little misshapen.  However, it still fits into the funnel.  Also some heavier contact marks to the strainer section.  The hallmarks appear a little rubbed but are still clear and legible, also part hallmarks to strainer.
