Lot 26

Lot Description

A George IV silver goblet, the campana form later embossed with asymmetrical scrolls amidst a background of diaper, scalework and flowers. Hallmarked London 1823, the maker probably Joseph Craddock & William Ker Reid. Height measuring 5 3/4 inches (14.5 cm), weight 7.9 ozt (246 grams).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

The goblet displays general surface scratches, marks and wear commensurate with the age and use.  Heavy tarnishing is visible throughout and it would benefit from a clean and polish.  Some small holes starting to appear in the embossed decoration.  Also, likely removal of a crest or monogram from the now vacant cartouche.  Various other surface dints and bumps and slight loss of surface detail to some of the decoration.  It wobbles a little when standing.  Hallmarks are quite worn and rubbed but still just legible.
