A late Victorian small silver caster.

Lot Description
A late Victorian small silver caster of baluster form, initialled engraving, pierced and engraved detachable cover and raised in a stepped circular base. Hallmarked Edwin Charles Purdie, London 1898. Height measuring 5 inches (12.5 cm), weight 3.7 ozt (117 grams).

Condition Report
The caster displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Some heavier scratches and deeper nicks are visible, also some minor dints. Larger dint to rim of flange on cover. Main foot rim is a little uneven, possible repair? The main hallmarks are clear and legible, maker's mark partly distorted. Also full hallmarks to cover, maker's mark has been over struck with a further maker's mark in a smaller trefoil shape punch.
