Lot Description

A George II silver hot milk pot of plain baluster form to the domed hinged lid, scrolling fruit wood handle and standing on a stepped circular footed base. Hallmarked to the underside of the base only Richard Gurney & Co (Richard Gurney & Thomas Cook), London 1736. Height measuring 6 inches (15 cm), weight 8.9 ozt (278 grams).

The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Compression to one side of the base, therefore the body sits a little off-centre also with a slight wobbles. Rubbed crest visible to the front of the bellied body. Possible repair to the upper handle join. Minor dints and bumps. Hallmarks appear miss-stamped and overlapping, no marks present to lid. Hinge allows a little sideways movement.
