Lot Description

A mid 20th century 9ct gold ruby and split pearl star brooch. The split pearl and circular-shape ruby cluster, within an eight-rayed split pearl star, to the circular-shape ruby spacers. Hallmarks for London, 1969. Diameter 4cms. Weight 13.4gms.

Overall condition fair to good. Some surface wear in keeping with general wear. Significant scratches, file marks and acid staining to the reverse. Part of the catch deficient, but still functional. Safety chain catch slightly misshapen and not secure. Split pearls creamy white, with rose and greenish overtones. Differ very slightly in appearance. Fairly good skins with some surface blemishes. Fairly good lustre. Rubies pinkish-red, fair to moderate colour saturation. Fairly good clarity with typical inclusions. Gemstones in fair to good condition with some abrasion and nicks.
