Lot Description

A set of twelve George III silver dessert spoons in plain Fiddle pattern with engraved initial to terminal, hallmarked Thomas Wallis (II) & Jonathan Hayne, London 1814 (one spoon dated 1815).  Together with four Victorian silver Fiddle pattern table spoons, hallmarked London 1852 and 1856, a set of six Victorian Fiddle pattern teaspoons with monogrammed terminals, hallmarked London 1851, and a further set of five similar teaspoons, hallmarked Josiah Williams & Co., Exeter 1878. Combined weight 31.35 ozt (975.3 grams). (27).

In varied state, all pieces displaying general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with their age and usage, and to varying degrees.  Heavier wear visible to spoons bowls, especially around edges and also the tips on several of the bowls are quite worn down and the metal appears thinner.  Band marks visible to some of the stems.  The hallmarks are mainly clear and legible, rubbing to some maker's marks.
