Lot Description

A 1920's Traprain treasure replica spoon, the teardrop bowl with Chi Rho engraving, leaf formed reverse and tapered stem with pointed terminal, hallmarked Brook & Son, Edinburgh 1932, length measuring 8 1/4 inches (21 cm). Together with a Victorian silver sifter spoon, London 1897, silver mounted tea strainer, several silver teaspoons, silver open salt with blue glass liner and a George III silver sugar shovel with later altered handle. Gross weighable silver 4.59 ozt (142 grams).

The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with age and use. Items are in a varied state, some with dents or pitting. The sugar scoop/shovel handle is a later alteration/repair, naively joined off-centre and  compressed is visible in the interior, further floods of solder, hallmarks rubbed but legible, visible to scoop/shovel part only. Hallmarks on sifter rubbed, maker's mark clear. Traprain treasure replica spoon has small patches of discolouration, clear hallmarks. Tea strainer appears in poor condition, heavily dented.
