Lot Description

An eighteenth century folding travelling Trefid spoon with rat-tail bowl and the terminal reverse engraved with personal initials. Rubbed marks to the stem, probably continental, two incorporating the letter 'H'. Length measuring 6 3/4 inches (17 cm), weight 1.9 ozt (60 grams).

The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Hinge allows significant sideways movement. Striking edge of the bowl has worn down and a little thin. Pitting visible. Deeper scratches/ lines either side of the Rat-tail. A little flooding of solder to the front join of the stem. Reverse of the sliding band a little concave. Continental marks worn.
