Lot Description

A George III silver teapot, of circular drum form with straight spout and fruitwood scroll handle and circular finial to hinged cover, later decorated throughout with scrolling foliate and floral motifs. Hallmarked Samuel Wood (probably), London 1772. Maximum height including finial measures 5 1/2 inches (14 cm), gross weight 13.51 ozt (420 grams).

Postage: Auction Default

Total lot weight: No

The teapot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.  The hinges on the lid are broken as the pin is partly protruding and now appears to be jammed in position.  Consequently, the lid does not close properly.  Some minor surface dints and bumps and heavier wear, scratches and contact marks to the underside.  Some wear and fading to the wood and a couple of cracks in the wood finial.  The hallmarks, located to the underside, are clear and legible.
