Lot Description

Three Scottish and agate brooches, the first of circular design with central tapered cross, inlaid throughout with hardstone pieces, together with a further inlaid hardstone brooch of circular outline and an oval agate brooch. Lengths 5 to 3.6cms.

Overall fair condition. The cross design brooch has one inlaid section deficient and three heavily abraded and chipped inlaid sections, most of the others show minor nicks to the edges, the brooch pin is deficient and it shows heavy tarnishing. The circular inlaid brooch ahs one inlaid section deficient and I believe it would have originally had a central section as there are two small drill holes to each side of the centre, it shows areas of tarnishing, the clasp is deficient and a possible replacement pin. To the oval agate brooch the clasp is deficient and there is a chip to the reverse edge of the agate, it has a replacement pin.
