Lot Description

A 19th century Austrian black marble portico clock, circa 1830, having a 4.5" convex white enamelled Arabic dial, the unmarked two train movement with wire suspension, outside countwheel striking on two bells, the case with bronze oval pedestal bowl finial to the beaded stepped pediment over cast hippocamps and four Corinthian columns on flowerhead cast plinth base and associated turned wooden feet. 21", (53cm) high.

Dial- infill around one winding square, later hands. Movement- restorers numbers scratch engraved to upper right of back plate, movement otherwise unmarked. Case- Bead edging to pediment loose and slightly bent, minor chipping to one side of case, loss to back left edge of plinth beading, feet probably later.
