Lot Description

A Victorian large silver lighthouse caster, the cylindrical form partly fluted rising to the detachable cover with bayonet fixture and pierced decoration. Hallmarked Pairpoint Brothers (John & Frank Pairpoint), London 1891. Height measuring 8 1/2 inches (21.5 cm), weight 12.3 ozt (385 grams).

The lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Significant dents to the piece including distortion of the base and the caster not sitting flush to the surface and wobbles. Some damage has also been caused by the miss-use of the bayonet fitting. Some rubbing with loss of definition. The hallmarks clear and legible, maker's mark to the lid distorted.
