Lot Description

Three pairs of Victorian silver open salts, the first pair of plain cauldron form with beaded rims and stylised hoof feet, hallmarked Daniel & Charles Houle, London 1873, the second circular pair with lobed decoration and ball feet, hallmarked Birmingham 1888 with maker's mark 'T.H', and the final pair of oval shape, heavily embossed with foliate and scroll motifs and also with ball feet, hallmarked Birmingham 1895, maker's mark obscured. Weight 6.04 ozt (188 grams).

Total lot weight: No

All the salts display general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Heavier spots/patches of tarnishing to some areas.  Heavier scratches and marks to some and slight surface dints.  Small rim splits and a couple of holes starting to appear in the embossed salts.  However, the overall condition of all appears to be generally okay.  No glass liners.  Rubbing and partial distortion to some hallmarks and maker's marks but they are mainly legible.
