Lot 36

Lot Description

A late Victorian silver shell dish, ornately embossed throughout with floral, foliate and scroll motifs surrounding a vacant cartouche, and with further pierced decoration, the whole raised above three ribbed ball feet. Hallmarked Atkin Brothers, Sheffield 1899. Maximum length measures 9 3/4 inches (24.8 cm), weight 7.3 ozt (227 grams).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

The dish appears in fairly good overall condition, displaying general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.  Heavier tarnishing visible, mainly to the underside, and it would benefit from a clean and polish.  Several deeper scratches and nicks to some areas.  Some rubbing and slight loss of surface detail to the decoration but it is generally still good.  The hallmarks are clear and legible.
