Lot 67

Lot Description

A George III silver pedestal cream jug, with simple punched rim above floral and foliate embossed decoration surrounding a vacant cartouche, with foliate capped scroll handle. Hallmarks partly distorted but likely Thomas Shepherd, London 1771. Height including handle measures 4 3/8 inches (11.2 cm), weight 2.47 ozt (76.8 grams).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

The jug displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.  The lip of the jug is in poor condition as there is a large split down the middle, a further large split to one side and a smaller split to the other.  Some small dints/bumps to other areas including the foot rim.  Some slight loss of detail to decoration.  Hallmarks are rubbed and partly distorted but still just legible.
